MIDF donates to flood-stricken Kelantan & Terengganu
Malaysia is currently facing one of the worst floods in the country’s history, with more than 50,000 victims being displaced and forced to leave their homes as reported in recent news.
The National Disaster Management Agency (NADMA) reports that there are 63,415 flood victims nationwide as at 6 a.m. Tuesday (Dec 20).
The agency said that the worst affected state was Terengganu, where eight districts have been hit by floods. A total of 37,021 individuals from 10,211 families have been evacuated to flood relief centres in the state.
In Kelantan, the number of evacuees rose to 17,326 people on Tuesday (Dec 20) compared to 14,359 over the weekend. There are 106 relief centres operating there.
MIDF is collaborating with Pertubuhan Jiwa Amal Malaysia (JIWA), a non-profit organization already in operation with prior training, expertise and logistics system in place. Under its “Tabung Jiwa Banjir Pantai Timur, this is to ensure that flood victims are able to receive aid and assistance in the timeliest manner possible.
At present, teams have already been deployed in both states to help those affected by preparing food and supplying essentials such as prayer mats, towels, toiletries and undergarments for men and women. Aside from that, everyday items like pampers, milk for babies, blankets and dried food are also being distributed.
MIDF have since contributed to these flood centres (PPS):
- PPS Hulu Terengganu, Terengganu
- PPS Kemaman, Terengganu
- PPS Kampung Nyior, Terengganu
- PPS Dewan Serbaguna Padang Pulut, Kuala Dungun, Terengganu
- PPS Padang Kemunting, Kijal, Terengganu
- PPS Kemasek, Terengganu
- PPS SK Kok Keli, Tumpat, Kelantan

In view of the monsoon season and severe climate conditions, we would like to urge everyone to be vigilant and to stay on alert for any warnings and/or instructions from the authorities. It is hoped we will be able to weather this storm, together.
