MIDF organised an ESG workshop for its SME clients
MIDF Berhad's Development Finance Division (DFD) recently introduced the ESG Framework and Governance to SMEs in a workshop organised in collaboration with International Green Trends Concept Sdn. Bhd. (IGTC). The workshop was conducted by En. Ismail Hj. Abdullah, President and CEO of IGTC.
In addition, the full-day workshop, held on 18 August 2022 at Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club (KLGCC) also addressed the impact of the ESG framework and governance on SMEs and the opportunities that arise from ESG investing in Malaysia.
The workshop was divided into four modules, each addressing different ESG-related topics that included climate change, actionable ESGs, international and national ESG frameworks, policies and guidelines, climate and transition-related risks to Malaysia’s business landscape as well as a discussion on how SMEs can leverage on ESG towards ensuring the sustainability of their businesses.
The workshop started with welcome remarks by En. Azizi Hj Mustafa, Head of DFD, and included a briefing on MIDF’s ESG classification and BNM’s Climate Change and Principle-Based Taxonomy (CCPT) by Mr. Loo Kin Han, Head of Strategic Performance at MIDF. This was followed by a presentation by Mr. Lin Chin Chan, Assistant Vice President of Sales (Central Region) who spoke about MIDF’s ESG-related government financial assistance, in particular the Sustainable & Green Biz Financing (SGBF) and Soft Financing Scheme for Digital and Technology (SFDT).
